Halloween Party 10/31

We will have our Halloween Party tomorrow, October 31st from  1:30-2:30. The class has been working hard and is looking forward to the party!

There will be time prior to the party for the children to change into their costumes. Students should leave all props and make-up at home.

Please feel free to drop by and join us for our celebration.

News for the week of 10/22

We just started a new unit in math. The children are learning to use Bar Models to solve one and two-step word problems.

During reading we read the book The Raft and wrote Gist Statements to focus on the main idea of each page. Then we used that information to analyze how a character changes over time.

The students are finishing up their narratives in writing. They had to add thoughts, feelings and dialogue to make their writing more interesting.

We just finished our most recent science unit and the children learned about inherited traits and learned behaviors.

On Friday we met with our First Grade Buddies and completed a Stem Challenge together. The challenge was to build a tower using index cards and dot stickers. The children worked amazingly well together!

Just a couple of things...
I will submit the Book Order Monday at 9:00 AM, so it’s not too late to place an order.

The Unit 4 Subtraction Test was sent home today. Please sign and return it at your convenience.
